Read this review and on my blogA note on the rating It s complicated It s not like I hated this book but I didn t love it either, and it s that it s not really for me than it s a bad book This is why I find deciding on ratings so difficult It s likely somewhere between 2 and 3 stars which is my I didn t like it very much it s okay but something was missing In a nutshell A quick fluffy read that was okay for what it was but wasn t as lovely as I hoped.I was really craving something cute and fl [...]

This is the story of two women who fall in love with Paris and were never the same again Anna Trent has had a horrific accident in the chocolate factory where she works and after recovering in hospital is jobless and depressed While in hospital, her old French teacher, Claire Shawcross was moved into the bed next to her while undergoing chemotherapy Both are bored with being confined to a hospital bed so to help pass the time Anna practices her French with Claire who gently corrects her and enco [...]

I have only recently become acquainted with Jenny Colgan s books, but have been eagerly awaiting the release of this book once I found out about it I was also drawn to the book, because it centres around two of my very favourite things chocolate, and the city of Paris. The story regularly changes narratives, from Anna, who works in a chocolate factory at her hometown Kidinsborough, and Claire, Anna s former French teacher After years have passed since school, the two come across each other when t [...]

Many authors who have written multiple books are recognizable not just by their style, but by common themes that reappear in each novel.Given that Jenny Colgan has written so very many books, I expected to find at least a little recycling Thus, I was surprised by the uniqueness of The Loveliest Chocolate Shop in Paris I had anticipated that it would not be too terribly different from Meet Me at the Cupcake Cafe similar characters, similar romantic circumstances, similarly based around food, but [...]

The Loveliest Chocolate Shop in Paris by Jenny Colgan is a delightful read Life really is sweet with Jenny Colgan. This is one cute and delightful Chocolate Story set in Paris at Le Chapeau Chocolat. It s about tasting chocolate and cooking and moulding it to perfection If you don t succeed at first try again Try out first with subtle combinations such as mint or orange and as you get practice just experiment and try something new It s about tasting the best exquisite French chocolate and not set [...]

4.5 stars.Up until now I have never really felt the desire to visit Paris Yes I know of readers who adore Paris, but I have always been happy to sit back happily in my own chair What Jenny Colgan manages to achieve in her book The Loveliest Chocolate Shop in Paris, is to have me totally in love with the sights and sounds, food and chocolate of Paris She makes me want to experience it for myself.I absolutely loved this book It made me chuckle out loud, as well it had me feeling deep sadness for s [...]

This was a light and enjoyable read about a young woman, Anna, who, encouraged by Claire, an older friend, goes to Paris to make a new life for herself I enjoyed the references to Paris, and could sympathise with some of Anna s initial woes upon arriving in Paris It is told mainly by Anna, in the first person, but with flashbacks to Claire and the time she spent in Paris as a young au pair almost 40 years ago Although it is quite a light book, in terms of subject matter, there are some deeper is [...]

This wasn t my favorite of the Jenny Colgan books I ve read, it took me longer to get into the story it s a bit sadder than most of the others, but it s still a sweet light read that will make you need to eat chocolate from her descriptions.

I adore the Cupcake books so was delighted to see Jenny had written this.It starts off terrifically with Anna having an accident in the chocolate factory where she works Whilst in hospital she meets her old schoolteacher, Claire Shawcross, and they strike up a wonderful friendship. The story jumps between Claire s story in 1972, and Anna s in the present day Claire sends Anna to Paris, where she had been in 1972, for her to convalesce and try and regain some confidence after her terrible injuries [...]

This book started very slowly for me I was thinking here we go again with my bargain books on Kindle Once the main character arrived in Paris, the book took off I loved reading about chocolate making in Paris and the love stories were sweet Pun intended

The original review is posted on Chick Library Cat Book Blog chicklibrarycat 2Jenny Colgan did it again When I read her books, my mouth is literary watering All those cakes and cookies and chocolates And Paris, the most romantic city in the world What s not to love there Anna Trent works in a chocolate factory When I hear the words chocolate factory, in the very same moment I think of Willy Wonka So exciting But, after the accident at the job, Anna ends up in hospital Next to her, lays her forme [...]

    Fabulous Book Fiend

Another delicious offering from Jenny Colgan First there were cupcakes, then there were sweets, then Christmas cupcakes, and finally, the ultimate chocolate I was eagerly awaiting this chocolate novel, and even the cover in a gorgeous Cadbury purple is just as delicious as I hoped it would be When we first meet main character Anna, the reader feels immediately drawn to her She is entirely identifiable, and feels as though she could actually be you or me Still in the town she grew up in, working [...]

The story alternates between the past with Claire s stay in Paris to the present with Anna s adventures in Paris Anna has been working in a chocolate factory so when she has an accident that leaves her a little lost in direction until her old French School Teacher Claire arranges for her to have a taster at working with a chocolatier friend of hers in Paris. The amount of research that must have gone into this book shines through from the picturesque setting of Paris to the mouth wateringly detai [...]

No prizes for guessing why I picked up this novel Romance chocolate Parisian backdrop sounds like a recipe for a good love story to me.I very much like the book s setting, and think the author encapsulates the Parisian well though I d have loved description of this most romantic of settings, and perhaps a little exploration of French characters beyond the stereotypical brusque ones. The chocolatier element of the plot is delightful really evocative and fascinating, and I confess I found myself [...]

Craving for chocolates while reading this book was unavoidable From the machine made chocolate to handmade chocolate, I would think of my favourite dark chocolate Anna was certainly having the best time of her life when she got a job in Paris, while questioning her perspective of her job, family, love and her life at Kidinsborough I was intrigued to know the depth of Thierry and Claire s romance 40 years ago A good read but beware with the lots and lots of mention of chocolates in this book.

I adored this book so freaking much At first I wasn t very invested, but after a while I was so connected to the characters and the story and their feelings I adored the portrayal of Paris, it was lovely What could be better than chocolate, Paris and love Nothing I did bawl my eyes out with the ending, which felt a bit abrupt But I really liked Anna s journey, the setting, the side characters, the flashbacks to Claire s trip This book was everything I used to love in chick lit I can t wait to re [...]

Better than 3 stars, but maybe not quite a full 4 I can t decide Sweet enjoyable though This was a light, fun a read that also had a deeper side to it I read it in between during other books, so it has taken a while to finish it There are 2 main female characters, Anna Claire, and it tells each of their Parisian story Claire s is told through flashbacks, and ultimately effects the present day storyline It has a great setting and I craved chocolate the whole time I read

After an accident in the chocolate factory where she worked, Anna Trent developed a super bug in the hospital When she wakes up in the hospital she discovers she s lost a couple of toes While recovering, she reconnects with her high school French teacher Claire Shawcourt, who is in for cancer treatment To pass the time, they practice French together Claire sees potential in Anna and wants Anna to make the best of her life She also sees Anna as being much like her younger self and decides to make [...]

If someone made this into a movie I would watch it in a heartbeat Infinitely interesting then Nicholas Sparks that s for sure Really just sweet and delicious and slightly bittersweet and if you re a foodie you ll enjoy this double Also, I desperately need some chocolate now I wouldn t mind a trip to Paris either.

I will write this brief review in such a way that I do not give away anything major and you can still enjoy the surprises Colgan offers in The Loveliest Chocolate Shop in Paris.I had initially reserved and later borrowed this book from my local library, purely based on my love for chocolate and having travelled to Paris a few years back And, although the novel took me longer than one sitting to finish reading it, I absolutely loved this book This novel is quality chick lit material and makes for [...]

by Andrea Renee CoxWow The Loveliest Chocolate Shop in Paris was a beautiful story that made me weep and laugh and giggle and harumph A real gamut of emotions.Jenny Colgan is a new author for me to read I chose this book from the library when I needed a chocolate titled book for a reading challenge I m glad I read it, even if it does have things I don t like about it The story was told in a fun, lighthearted voice, and the part where Anna tripped had me laughing so hard my stomach ached. This boo [...]

The book was quite addictive and brought me back to Paris to enjoy After a freak accident Anna at 30 finds herself in the hospital next to her high school French teacher She is determined that Anna is not going to end up like her wishing she had grabbed her opportunities for love and jobs when she could have instead of staying in a small provincial town in England She enables Anna to go to Paris and work for an elite chocolatier The book is funny and heartwarming This is my second book by this a [...]

There were some fun and cute parts of this novel, but it s a pet peeve of mine when characters say I love you with almost no relationship development or even real conversations I love reading about the main characters personal growth and exploration following her accident and of course, all the descriptions of her time in Paris, particularly the Ile de la Cite, but I just couldn t get past the uneven pacing in the story and some boring bits.

A book bought solely on the title and the cover I don t read much chick lit but enjoy a frothy comic romance every now and again This was even frothier than I expected and not quite as funny as I had hoped but a few memorable characters, gorgeous descriptions of making chocolate, and the Parisian setting made it a most relaxing and sweet read.

OH I can still hear Anna s voice in my head She sounded so fun, and like we would have a jolly good time together.Let us begin Anna has an accident and spends some time at a hospital and re connects with an old French teacher of hers She kind of floats through life, sure working at a choco factory is fun omg, that would be so amazing , but what else The book has another POV too A young Englishwoman in the 70s who falls for a handsome Frenchman, and well it is obvious how it connects, and kind of [...]

Can I please have 5 stars so that I can give this gem 10 full stars I am slowly working my way through all of Jenny Colgan s books and I have to say that it is a bit of a challenge as most of them are not sold here in the States so I have to order them from the UK Well worth the investment though as reading her books is such a pleasure Of all of the books I have read so far, this is by far my very favorite Colgan book If you love stories about love, Paris, chocolate, and storylines that take pl [...]

I really enjoyed this book.Lovely story of chocolate shop in Paris I liked the characters and story line Although one story line was predictable, there were a few twists at the end that I did not see coming I did feel it was dragged out a bit in spots But overall, a very enjoyable read.
