Not being at all adverse to a big suspenseful thriller I was than pleased to get my hands on a copy of NZ author Steve Malley s book POISON DOOR.Even pleased that I didn t dither around like I m wont to do and sat down and read it There s an awful lot to like about this book The story revolves around three main characters Michelle Swanston, a 14 year old girl who lives a fair amount of her life on the streets anything to avoid her drug addled mother Tommy Knowles is a thug originally from Lond [...]
Deadly, cold, speed crunching mobster Tommy Knowles is gearing up for a war with his former boss, and it will be one that will leave Christchurch reeling A latchkey kid in the most extreme sense, teenaged Michelle stumbles across one of Tommy s violent bids for ultimate control, and finds herself embedded in a dangerous situation that could leave her dead or worse Up to her knees in fresh murder cases, detective Sarah Crane knows something big and very bad is going on in Christchurch, and it may [...]
New Zealand has been in first place on my travel bucket list for the past two years, but Malley s Christchurch is not the place I want to visit, even without earthquakes He has created a sinister world of violent thugs, desperate teens, corruption, drugs and guns He s also created vivid characters, some we would never want to meet outside the pages of a book and some we would be proud to know One of the latter is policewoman, Sarah Crane In New Zealand, cops don t carry guns, but criminals often [...]
When a story line of this calibre is played out in your own home town, it makes you see things a little differently This is a fast paced thriller that had me from the word go The way the writer has portrayed Christchurch and the things that take place there is just amazing, i found it extremely easy see the story played out right in front of me for this very reason The depth of the characters was just right, there was no over kill on the side of Tommy Knowles and his bad ass crew, as can sometim [...]
This one is now available for the kindle I found it very exciting, with great characters on both the hero and villain sides It was easy to get caught up in this fast paced story I highly recommend it.
